From deep within Scattermusic's inner core comes Mat Cant with his clean-cut sound. Influenced in equal parts by soda-floats and luke-warm tea, he goes into battle armed with elements of UK Bass, Rap and Jersey club. Nowhere is this more apparent than in title track: Make Believe featuring driving chords straight out of London, yet laced with a 'think' break and southern-fried rap stabs. On the flip comes "Are You Ready" with a "grimy" bass line which just refuses to quit, bashment party cries and rightfully stupid bells, perfectly suited for a packed basement at 1am. Having already received support from the like of Crookers, Wildlife, Nick Catchdubs, Rob Threezy Astronomar, Malente, Swick, Dirty South Joe, Lucid and more, make believe promises to be a big release for the Melbourne based producer.
On Make Believe remix duties, first up comes Famous Eno with one of his signature percussion-heavy workouts. Metallic bongos clash with the Mat Cant's haunting chords, creating enough tension to drive just about any dancefloor nuts. Next up, celebrated Brisbane DJ Sampology puts Make Believe deep in the trap. De-tuned brass sits above pounding 808s, placing this burner right at home alongside Atlanta's sound of 2012. Third on the remix, all the way from the UK comes Murlo who adds about 4000 square meters of pristine space to the track, marked out with popping congas and backboned by that fluffy London bass we all love so much
