Scattermusic unleashes its first official vinyl release, a limited run clear 7" by Melbourne group Congo Tardis #1. Drawing on the genres which have dominated their DJ sets over the past few years such as Reggaeton, Dancehall, Kwaito, Shangaan Electro and more, Congo Tardis #1 bring together uplifting flavors from all over the globe to create something that’s truly unique. Steel drums ride the snap of cheap snares, carnival keys pulse over white noise sweeps, the vocals are fragmented yet the message is obvious, tune in your speaker, put the lime in the coconut, pump up the tweeter, don’t worry, it’ll make much more sense on the dancefloor.
The release also features appearances from two close friends. Marawa the Amazing, the worlds most incredible hula hoop performer (check this link if you don’t believe us) lends her vocal talents on Sweet Lime. MC Damaja, one of Melbourne’s finest dancehall MCs contributes the rather warped vocal hooks for the lead track Wild n’ Ready.
Note: Unlike the digital edition of the release, the vinyl does not include Faux Pas' remix of Doala.
The French producer's debut makes an ideal chillout soundtrack, its synth jams swirling with Balearic textures and hypnotic trip-hop beats. Bandcamp New & Notable Apr 21, 2024
